Online and in-person bookings in the same service

"Would you prefer online or in person?" — if you send that message after every booking request, this article is for you.

More and more professionals work both ways. The psychologist who sees patients at the office but runs video sessions for those living far away. The nutritionist who does the first consultation in person and follow-ups online. The consultant who alternates between office meetings and Google Meet.

Until now, a booking page treated everything the same — and the "where will it happen?" conversation always happened afterwards, over WhatsApp. That is over: on agend.pt, every service can be in person, online, or both — and when it is both, the customer picks at booking time.

How it works

In Services, each service now has a "Where does it take place?" option with three choices:

  • In person — the customer sees your address in the confirmation and in the calendar invite.
  • Online — the booking automatically includes the meeting link.
  • Online or in person — the booking page shows both options and the customer picks their preference while filling in their details.

The choice is stored on the booking: it shows up in your calendar with its own icon, in the booking detail modal, in emails, and in SMS. You and the customer always know — without exchanging a single message.

Real case: the psychologist with an office and remote patients

Sofia sees patients in Porto, but a third of them live outside the city. Her old process: booking request → message asking "online or in person?" → reply → manually sending the Meet link the day before.

With her "Psychology session" service set to online or in person:

  1. The patient picks a time slot on the public page.
  2. In the form, they select "Online" or "In person" — one question, two buttons.
  3. If they choose online, they get the meeting link in the confirmation, on the booking page, and in the calendar invite.
  4. If they choose in person, they get the office address in the same places.

Sofia stopped managing logistics over messages. And since price and duration are the same in both formats, a single service is enough.

If you charge different prices online and in person — say, a pricier in-person physical assessment and cheaper online follow-ups — create two separate services, each with its own mode and price. Both models coexist just fine.

Real case: the tutor who only works online

Rui teaches maths exclusively over video calls. For him, marking the service as online is enough. The public page shows the "Online" badge on the service, customers know what to expect, and no booking waits for an address that does not exist.

The reverse also works: a barbershop keeps everything in person (the default — nothing to change) and the shop's address appears in confirmations and calendar invites.

Where does the meeting link come from?

Two sources, in this order:

  1. Automatic Google Meet — with Google Calendar connected (paid plans), agend.pt generates a unique Meet link for each confirmed online booking. If you reschedule, the event moves and the link stays valid.
  2. Fixed link — in Settings, you can store your permanent room (Meet, Zoom) or short instructions such as "I'll call you on WhatsApp at the booked time". It is used whenever there is no automatic link.

The customer finds the link on the booking page, in the confirmation email, and in the calendar invite — with a "Join meeting" button when it is a direct link.

Set it up in 2 minutes

  1. Open Services in your dashboard.
  2. Edit the service and choose "Online", "In person", or "Online or in person".
  3. If you work online: in Settings → Bookings, store your fixed meeting link (or connect Google Calendar for automatic links).
  4. Confirm your address in Public Page for in-person bookings.

Done. From the next booking on, "where will it happen?" answers itself.
